“Democrats are going to have to go it alone.”

That’s the assessment on health care reform provided by our very own Sen. Dick Durbin to ABC News on Monday.

They say it takes two to tango, but Durbin and the Democrats apparently prefer to dance by themselves.

They are threatening to use a little known procedural trick called reconciliation (a.k.a., “The Nuclear Option) to force through a health care bill that the American people don’t want — and can’t afford.

Please click here right now to email Senator Durbin to ask him to seek a bipartisan solution on health care reform.

It may be easier — at least for people with two left feet — to dance without a partner, but there’s something profoundly sad about the spectacle, if not downright disturbing.

Democrats may say that they have no choice, that the Republicans don’t want to dance with them — but the fact is that there’s a give and take to dancing and Democrats aren’t willing to give.

They want everything their way. But that’s not how dancing works … or legislation, either.

Unlike some of his colleagues in the Senate, and all members of the House, Durbin doesn’t come up for reelection this year. In fact, he doesn’t run again until 2014 — by which time, he no doubt hopes, his role in the health care reform debacle will be a distant memory for most of his constituents.

Let’s disabuse him of that hope. Let’s let him know that we’re paying attention and we will remember.

Email Sen. Durbin today and tell him he needs to take some dance lessons.

Tell Durbin that he needs to drop the extreme partisanship and work with the Republicans to draft a real reform bill … one that actually lowers costs, improves health care access and doesn’t bankrupt our country.

Tell him we want a bipartisan solution, or none at all.

View the our Third Annual Scorecard of the Illinois General Assembly to find out where your legislators stand on the L.I.F.T. Principles: Limited Government, Individual Freedom, Free Enterprise and Traditional Values.

In these challenging times, it is more important than ever to have elected officials who champion proven conservative principles that will get our economy moving, restore our freedoms, and protect our traditional values.

We call these the L.I.F.T. Principles: Limited Government, Individual Freedom, Free Enterprise and Traditional Values.

That is why we have released our Third Annual Scorecard of the Illinois General Assembly.

The Republican Party has traditionally been the party of those who champions these principles — but, as we all know, not all Republicans share these values. The scorecard is a quantifiable measurement of each legislators record. We hope it will remind each legislator to think about the consequences of his or her vote when they return to work later this month.

The L.I.F.T. Principles upon which this scorecard is based represent a new and larger definition of conservatism: one that speaks to all aspects of society, rather than the narrow interpretation that liberals propagandize.

Please click here to view the 2009 Legislative Scorecard.

As you will see, we recognize as “L.I.F.T. Leaders” those legislators who scored 75% or higher on the scorecard.

First New Jersey and Virginia. Then Massachusetts.

Conservatism won the day each time with the help of independent-thinking Americans like you.

No other organization in Illinois is better positioned to lead the way to victory in November than the conservative United Republican Fund, an independent political action committee that promotes limited government, individual rights, free markets and traditional values — the LIFT principles.

The URF is focused on helping candidates that hold tight to those principles and is doing all we can to communicate far and wide how the LIFT movement can energize community activism, electrify online networks and jolt Illinois’ political battlefield toward a modern day American Revolution.

Please take time today to give $20, $50 or more towards our joint effort as we prepare to launch unity, revolution and freedom the day after the February 2 Primary.

The next victory for conservatives will be in Illinois, Obama’s home state. Sounds great, doesn’t it?

Join us. Be a part of making history.
